Pastor: Friends, you have been called to special Christian service at Holy Trinity to serve on the Capital Campaign Committee. As you commit yourselves to this work, hear again Christ’s words: “You did not choose me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last; so that God will give you whatever you ask in my name.” (John 15: 16 – 17) You have been called to serve because your church believes in you and needs your leadership in this Capital Campaign project. Over the next ten weeks, your task is to prepare the congregation for a unique experience in Christian stewardship as it responds to the challenge of our campaign theme: Live our Faith ~ Launch our Future! The monies raised through this campaign will be a sign of how we Live our Faith at Holy Trinity and will Launch our Future as we renovate our church building and grounds, provide housing for future pastors and share our blessings with neighbors beyond our own doors. If you are now prepared to accept this commitment to God and to this congregation, please respond by saying, “I do so promise, with the help of God.”
Capital Campaign Committee members: I do so promise, with the help of God.
Pastor addresses the rest of the congregation. Please stand. These fellow members have publicly committed themselves to work diligently to accomplish the many important functions of this Capital Campaign project in the coming ten weeks. I now ask you to pray for the work to be done and to offer your services wherever possible. If you are willing to labor together in this venture of faith please respond by saying, “I do so promise, with the help of God.”
Members of the congregation: I do so promise, with the help of God.
Pastor: Let us pray. Eternal Spirit, bless us with the courage to be faithful and generous members of this congregation. Let your light fill our hearts and minds with your spirit of love and confidence even as we remember that God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline. We seek this blessing in Jesus’ name. Amen.
